Khiry is an actor and recording artist from New Orleans, Louisiana. Previous Shakespeare credits include A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Measure for Measure, and The Winter’s Tale (The NOLA Project), Macbeth, The Taming of the Shrew, and Cymbeline (New Orleans Shakespeare Festival). After five years, Khiry is excited to return to the Festival stage.

James is happy to return to the Shakespeare Festival at Tulane. Previous Festival appearances include What Has This Thing Appeared Again Tonight?, As You Like It (2008), Macbeth (2010), Twelfth Night (2011), The Merry Wives of Windsor, Romeo and Juliet (2013), The Importance of Being Earnest (2015), Two Gentlemen of Verona (2016), The Tempest (2017), Macbeth (2018), and Hamlet (2019).

Leyla Beydoun is a Middle-Eastern American Actress from New York’s best borough, Queens. She received her BFA in Acting from the University of Michigan. She is thrilled to be joining The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival for the summer of 2023! Some of her recent credits include: The Ballet Of Keith King (Dee), Henry IV Part 1 (Francis/Soldier), Passage (Q), Banned (Amal), and As You Like It (Celia). Some fun facts about her: She has been dancing since she was five, she is trained in flying trapeze, and traveling is her all-time favorite hobby.

Born in New Orleans, Emma is thrilled to be performing with the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival. Previous credits include Blood Wedding (Fordham Theatre Studio), Valor Agravio y Mujer (Fordham Theatre Studio), The Drag (Fordham MainStage), This is Our Youth (Fordham Theatre), and Men on Boats (NOCCA). Emma is a graduate of The New Orleans Center for Creative Arts and a recent BA graduate from Fordham Theatre.

Charlotte Gunn is a rising 9th grader at The Willow School, where she enjoys creative writing, visual arts, and theatre. She is an avid cosplayer and loves to work with stage makeup. Past favorite shows include Peter and the Starcatcher and Powerline: The Story of Me, Mario, and Your Mom with The NOLA Project’s Summer Intensive. Charlotte is an acolyte at Trinity Episcopal church and a member of Girl Scout Troop 40174. She hopes to find her place in the arts community and continue to work in the theatre.

Monica is a SAG-E/AEA-E actor and occultist with a BA, Theatre Arts from Loyola University. Romeo and Juliet marks her 5th show with New Orleans Shakespeare Festival since 2018! When she’s not on a glowing screen near you, haunting your dreams, or tarot reading, she directs and produces. Their recent credits include As You Like It and Henry IV Part I (New Orleans Shakespeare Festival), Vieux Carré (Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theatre Festival), Bare: A Pop Opera (Guest Artist, Whitman College), Treasure Island (The NOLA Project), and The Conductor’s Spellbook (Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra). Monica is a proud core team member of the original work in development & Come Round In Circle (Radical Buffoons).

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Shelley is delighted to return to the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival. Credits include: Henry IV Part One, Much Ado About Nothing, All’s Well That Ends Well (New Orleans Shakespeare Festival), Rabbit Hole (30xNinety Theater), A Christmas at Pemberley (Southern Rep), One Man, Two Guvnors, Boeing, Boeing, Legally Blonde (Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts), and Julius Caesar (Georgia Shakespeare Festival). Also, she works as a fight director throughout the city; works include Peter Pan, Wizard of Oz, Elf (Rivertown Theaters for the Perfoming Arts) and Death of a Salesman (Le Petit) and various others. By day, Shelley works as a Talented Theatre Teacher for St. Tammany Parish. Shelley is an MFA Graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi.

Edward is ecstatic to return to the stage for the first time since graduating from SUNY Purchase Acting Conservatory ‘20. This is his first appearance with the New Orleans Shakespeare Festival as well as experiencing the city of NOLA for the very first time. MATTHEW RAETZ

Matthew has appeared in the City as Jack (The Rose Tattoo), Dr. Sugar (Suddenly, Last Summer), and Jim O’Conner (The Glass Menagerie) for the Tennessee Williams Theatre Company. Along with playing Cliff Bradshaw (Cabaret) at Rivertown Theatre, Matthew has appeared at the New Orleans Shakespeare festival as Dromio (Comedy of Errors), Touchstone (As You Like It) and more. A Big Easy nominee and NOCCA Alumni, Matthew is a founder of YellowBoxCircus, a New Orleans based circus troupe specializing in various talents. Book them for your next party!
MICHAEL SANTOS
CAPULET
After a twelve-year respite, Michael is excited to return to New Orleans Shakespeare Festival. He has since penned several plays, including The Henchman: A Shakespeare Story, a sequel to A Midsummer Night’s Dream (The NOLA Project, 2019), The Sorcerer’s Island: A Shakespeare Story, a prequel to The Tempest (Delgado Community College, 2021) and From Ancient Grudge: A Shakespeare Story, a prequel to Romeo and Juliet. He is currently writing Donalbain: A Shakespeare Story, a companion-play to Macbeth. Michael is an MFA graduate from the University of New Orleans and a theatre faculty member at Delgado Community College.

David is very happy to be back with the Festival. He was last seen in the Festival’s Much Ado About Nothing as Don Juan. Most recent credits include Reverend Tooker in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof at Le Petit, and Harry Bishop in Song of A Man Coming Through with Southern Rep. Chicago credits include Claudius in Hamlet, Edgar in King Lear, and Boaz in Lifeline Theatre’s Sirens of Titan.

Joe is a New Orleans born and raised actor. Most recently, he has been seen in Raising Hell’s The Wedding Party Experience, Fat Squirrel’s production of Macbeth (Lennox/Young Siward), Rivertown’s Peter and the Starcatcher (Peter), Goat in the Road’s Play/Write festival, and the New Orleans InFringe Festival as part of The Non-Prophet Theater Company. He is a graduate of Centenary College of Louisiana and East 15 Acting School.
ZARAH SPALDING
GREGORY / FIRST WATCH
Born and raised in Honolulu, Hawai`i, Zarah is honored to be making their New Orleans theatre debut. They are a BFA Acting graduate of the SUNY Purchase Theatre Arts Conservatory and have also trained classically in various institutions across London and New York. Zarah was the national champion for the ESU Shakespeare Competition at Lincoln Center (2015) and has most recently appeared in tv shows such as Will Trent and Queer as Folk.
