The New Orleans Shakespeare Festival at Tulane will hold auditions for its 2015 season, which includes:
*Cymbeline by William Shakespeare, directed by Rob Clare*
*The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde, directed by Jessica Podewell
*Incarnate, a new work with Compleat Stage directed by Chaney Tullos

*We are thrilled to welcome internationally known director Rob Clare to the Festival. Mr. Clare was first an actor with the Royal Shakespeare Company, then a Staff Director at the U.K.’s National Theatre. With a doctorate from Oxford University (where he also taught), he is now an internationally recognized director and text coach. Mr. Clare has directed, performed with and coached some of the most respected classical actors of our time.

Actors with a strong command of classical text. Positions are paid, and it is possible for actors to be cast in more than one show. Actors will likely be asked to understudy other roles. NOSFT is an equal opportunity employer.

Queen/Soothsayer (Philarmonus): Female, 35-50.
Imogen: Female, 20-30.
Lady 1: Female.

The Importance of Being Earnest: A standard British Received Pronunciation dialect is required for all roles in this show.
John Worthington: Male, 20s-30s.
Algernon Moncrieff: Male, 20s-30s.
Lady Bracknell: This role has been cast.
Gwendolen Fairfax: Female, 20s.
Cecily Cardew: Female, 20s.
Miss Prism: Female, 40s-60s.
Canon Chasuble: Male, 40s-60s.
Lane: Male, 30+.
Merriman: Male, 30+

Man, 20s-30s. A leading-man type with a strong movement or dance background and a command of classical text.

Auditions will be held in 15-minute blocks on:
Friday February 20, 5:00p-8:00p
Saturday February 21, 11:00a-4:00p

Sunday February 23, 1:00p-4:00p

Actors interested in auditioning should send an electronic headshot and resume to Chaney Tullos at Appointments will be scheduled via email upon receipt.

Actors wishing to audition for all three shows should prepare a Shakespearean monologue, approximately one minute in length. Please bring a headshot and resume with you.

Those wishing to audition ONLY for “Earnest” may prepare a non-Shakespeare monologue using a Received Pronunciation British dialect. Please use a dialect if you are ONLY auditioning for “Earnest”. Contact Chaney Tullos with any questions.

The Importance of Being Earnest first rehearsal: June 16, 2015
The Importance of Being Earnest opens: July 11, 2015
The Importance of Being Earnest closes: July 25, 2015

Incarnate first rehearsal: Based on actor availability
Incarnate opens: July 15, 2015
Incarnate closes: July 22, 2015

Rehearsals are held from 6:00p-11:00p Tuesday-Friday, and 12:00p-8:30p Saturday and Sunday. We ask that actors only audition if they are able to commit to all rehearsals and shows and will not accept conflicting work (theatre or film) during that time.

Cymbeline will likely be remounted in January 2016 for the annual Performance for the Schools. Actors auditioning for this play should also be available for the month of January in 2016.
